Museum of Flight All-Ages Spacesuit Design Contest Now Open

SEATTLE – The Museum is now accepting entries for its annual Spacesuit Design Contest, an all-ages exercise in fun fashion for fantasy spaceflights. This year’s theme is “Sustainability Suits,” and designers are challenged to build their suits in creative ways using recycled materials and items normally seen as waste.

The contest is open to anyone five and older, with participants divided into four categories based on age and the Top 5 designs in each category will be showcased in the Top 20 Fashion Show at the Museum on Saturday, June 28. There a panel of judges will decide the winning design for each age category, and the four winning designs will be showcased at the glamorous Fashion in Flight fashion show at the Museum on November 8.

Contest design proposals must be submitted by May 4, and the Top 20 selections will be announced on May 16. The chosen designers will have until June 27 to build their spacesuit and wear it in the Top 20 Fashion Show on June 28.
