Historian Simon Martin of the University of Pennsylvania, will give a lecture talk at the British Museum, on 8 July, examining the history behind ancient Maya art, showing how the decipherment of hieroglyphic inscriptions has opened a unique window on an ancient American culture.
This event is part of A History of the World in 100 Objects, a BBC/British Museum partnership and is related to the Room 3 display Rulership and ritual: Maya relief of royal blood-letting.
