Inventing the 21st Century Exhibition Opens at the British Library

This exhibition, open through 28 November 2010, will celebrate British ingenuity and innovation, featuring 15 inventions from the past ten years and the stories behind them.

The exhibition is the first of its kind in the British Library and will showcase British Library case studies and inventions such as Dyson’s Air Multiplier™ fan – the ‘bladeless’ fan; Double-headed Broom, invented by 6 year old Samuel Houghton; Road Refresher non-spill dog travel bowl, President Obama’s favourite dog bowl and the K-2 Wheelchair, designed to increase mobility of the wheelchair by being built on three wheels instead of four.

The Library is also asking the public and businesses to present a problem that they face in everyday life that they would like to see solved through an invention. The topics will be broken into themes, such as commuting and DIY to tie in with the exhibition.
