The Harbor History Museum, (formerly the Gig Harbor Peninsula History Museum) will host a Grand Opening on Grand Opening September 18, at 2010 9:30 AM.
At the new museum you will find top-rate exhibitions, larger than life experiences, and lots of opportunities for hands-on exploration of the region’s rich history. The Harbor History Museum will be a vital community center. The museum will bring to life our community’s past, and illustrate through engaging exhibits and programs how that past has shaped the present and informs the future.
The Harbor History Museum Capital Campaign
The Gig Harbor Peninsula Historical Society has embarked on an ambitious goal of raising $11.1 million to build the Harbor History Museum for the community. The museum will bring this history alive while providing a community gathering place in the heart of the harbor.
It’s a place that will educate and inspire while preserving the area’s unique past. Located on the waterfront in downtown Gig Harbor, the museum will transform a warehouse district into a vibrant community corridor.
Planned activities:
10 a.m. — Opening remarks, dedication and ribbon cutting.
11 a.m. — Museum doors open.
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Lions Club barbecue and salmon bake.
