Glazer Children’s Museum Grand Opening

The Grand Opening of the Glazer Children’s Museum is set for Saturday, September 25th, 2010.

Announced during a special VIP reception at Imagination 2010 – the museum’s annual fundraising gala which this year grossed over $215,000, official news of the greatly anticipated opening was received enthusiastically by a crowd of nearly 500 Bay area guests.

Among these were Glazer Family Foundation member Bryan Glazer, Mayor Pam Iorio, Hillsborough County Commissioner Ken Hagan, Honorary Gala Chairs Mike and Nicole Alstott, and more.

The gala was an exclusive first-see opportunity for guests to explore the interior of the striking new museum which commands the landscape along the Hillsborough River with its unique styling and vibrant colors at the revitalized Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park in beautiful downtown Tampa. Over the last four months, as the museum prepared to open its doors to the public, interior build out continued on 12 exciting themed galleries offering over 175 amazing hands-on, minds-on, interactive exhibits for children and families.

The result is a groundbreaking educational and entertaining experience for Tampa Bay children and their families as they play, discover and connect to the world around them.

Heralded by USA TODAY as “Another reason to bring the kids to Tampa,” Glazer Children.s Museum will open to the public on Saturday, September 25th.

ABOUT GLAZER CHILDREN.S MUSEUM
The Glazer Children.s Museum is a not-for-profit educational and cultural resource whose mission is to create learning environments where children play, discover and connect to the world around them to develop as lifelong learners and leaders.

The new 53,000 square foot museum will provide a safe and playful environment where children and adults can learn about themselves, each other, and the world around them through exploration, role-playing and direct experience. The highly interactive museum will include 12 themed galleries and 170 ¡°hands-on, minds-on¡± exhibits for children aged birth to around ten. A combination of permanent and traveling exhibits, comprehensive year round programs and special events will provide children, parents, caregivers and teachers a rich and ever-changing environment for playful learning.

Glazer Children’s Museum will also offer over 5000 ft2 of event space, 2500 ft2 of classroom space and a 1000 ft2 roof terrace accessible from the third floor.
