George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film Raises $486,000

The George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film has raised $486,000 at an auction held on October 4th at Sotheby’s in New York City.

Top lot was a toned gelatin silver print taken in 1931 by Paul Everard Outerbridge, which brought $64,000. A portfolio of Ansel Adams images fetched $55,000.

The auction will continue through Thursday, with more than 200 items up for online auction at igavelauctions.com.

Proceeds from the benefit auction will help the Eastman House Museum ensure continued growth of resources that foster research and study into one of the world’s most historically significant collections. Also benefiting will be the National Historic Landmark house and gardens.
