The Vancouver Art Gallery is thrilled that its publication Visions of British Columbia: A Landscape Manual has been honoured with the 2010 City of Vancouver Book Award.
The City of Vancouver Book Award is a Canadian literary award presented annually by the City of Vancouver to the best fiction, non fiction, poetry or drama about the city. An independent jury cited Grenville and Steedman’s work for being a visually stunning marriage of art and literature showcasing the Vancouver Art Gallery’s collection. In particular, judges noted the ethnic diversity of the contributors, the range of poets and journalists, and the attention to artists in Vancouver.
Visions of British Columbia was published in association with the Gallery’s exhibition of the same name, which showcased visual art representing the variety and richness of artistic vision in British Columbia. The exhibition ran from January 23 to April 18, 2010.
