The Detroit Institute of Arts elected three new board members in November: H. William Burdett, Jr., an attorney with Boyle Burdett, PC; Juliette Okotie-Eboh, senior vice president, Community Affairs/Administration at MGM Grand Detroit Casino; and Alex L. Parrish, senior partner and board member with Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn, LLP.
Two others joined the board as members of the class of 2010 earlier this year: Yvette Bing, owner and manager of HT & Associates, Inc., and the first lady of Detroit; and Ethan Davidson, a musician who started Times Beach Records in Royal Oak.
“We are happy to welcome these prominent community members to our board,” said Eugene A. Gargaro, DIA chairman of the board. “Their dedication to the arts and array of experience and expertise will help us continue to provide great art and educational programs to the community.”
Re-elected members include Jeffrey Antaya, chief marketing officer, Plante & Moran, PLLC; Eleanor Ford, philanthropist; Thomas Sidlik, retired from Chrysler; Ronald Weiser, retired ambassador to Slovakia; and Janis Wetsman, art collector and philanthropist. Marc Schwartz, managing partner in SM/ART Editions, was re-elected to the board after a two-year hiatus.

H. William Burdett, Jr.
H. William Burdett, Jr. is an attorney with Boyle Burdett, PC. Prior to that he was with Butzel Long, PC and Foley & Lardner, LLP. Burdett is a graduate of University of Michigan’s Law School and Yale University, and has lectured on issues relating to freedom of the press and the First Amendment. He is a member of the Supreme Court Historical Society and the Historical Society of Michigan. Burdett is on the boards of The Scarab Club, the museum’s Founders Junior Council, and the DIA board Development Committee.
Juliette Okotie-Eboh
Juliette Okotie-Eboh is senior vice president, Community Affairs/Administration at MGM Grand Detroit Casino. She was previously senior vice president and ombudsman with the Detroit Medical Center where she also managed diversity initiatives. Okotie-Eboh has a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, both in urban and regional planning. Okotie-Eboh serves on the boards of Detroit Area Agency on Aging, the Coleman A. Young Foundation, and The Metropolitan Affairs Coalition.
Alex L. Parrish
Alex L. Parrish is a senior partner and board member with Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn, LLP. He has worked with National Bank of Detroit, General Motors Corporation, and major Detroit retailers. Parrish is chairman of the board of Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts and a trustee of Henry Ford Health System Foundation and Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Foundation.

Yvette Bing
Yvette Bing owns HT & Associates, Inc., and is married to Detroit Mayor Dave Bing. She has established a partnership with the Detroit Public Schools Reading Corps, served as co-chair of the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan Cookie Gala, as chairwoman of the POH Regional Medical Center’s Sister & Sister Health and Education Day, and as spokeswoman for Infant Mortality Prevention Week. Bing is on the board of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, and has worked with her husband on fundraisers for Barat Child and Family Services and Casa Maria.
Ethan Davidson
Ethan Davidson, son of the late William (Bill) Davidson, is a folk musician who started Times Beach Records in Royal Oak, an independent label created by artists. Davidson holds a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from University of Michigan. He is on the boards of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Metropolitan Detroit and the Michigan Opera Theatre, and serves as a trustee of the Pistons-Palace Foundation and the William Davidson Foundation.
