Bolton Colburn the current Director of the Laguna Art Museum, announced he has decided to resign as Director as of Friday, May 13.
Bolton Colburn posted the following statement on the museum’s website.
“My years at the Museum, including the ten years I spent in the curatorial department of the institution prior to becoming Director, have been the most fulfilling of my museum career.
.
I love Laguna Art Museum, its mission, and the community, but it is time for someone else to take the lead and for me to pursue other opportunities in the art world. I wish the Museum every good fortune and prosperity.
.
During this time, Robert Hayden III, Board President, will work with staff and department heads to ensure a smooth transition.
.
Laguna Art Museum is truly a great institution and I wanted to thank you all for supporting it and implore you to continue to do so. The Museum needs your help to continue to grow and change. With the help of the Irvine Foundation’s Regional Arts Initiative, the Museum has recently approved a three-year plan laying the groundwork for its future. That future is bright and envisions a museum with national stature, strong ties to the community, and one that is financially sustainable.”
