The 2011 Art of Wine biennial event will take place Saturday evening, October 15, 6 pm, at the James A. Michener Art Museum. This distinctive wine-themed event is the museum’s major fundraiser and supports the education programs, exhibitions and activities of the Michener.
Honorary co-chairs for the Art of Wine 2011 are Vivian Banta and Robert Field. The event committee includes Barbara Belding, Greg Church, Lou Della Penna, Valerie Eastburn, Kathy Fernberger, Lin Hodgdon, Jane Ford-Hutchinson, Carole Hurst, Audrey Long, Peg MacDonald, Carol Nelson, David Rago, Chris Reilly, Harry Rose, Pamela Sergey, Leslie Skilton and Carol Small.
The evening begins with an hors d’oeuvres reception featuring wine tasting from premier vineyards, including Cakebread Cellars, Duckhorn Wine Company, Quintessential Wines, Silver Oak & Twomey Cellars and Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars. A silent auction of more than 40 lots including wine, art and wine-related items will also be held during the reception.
The evening includes a four-course gourmet dinner created by Jeffrey A. Miller Catering Company, the Michener Art Museum’s exclusive caterer. HALL Wines will graciously provide the dinner wine pairings, to be selected by Sommelier Tim Kilcullen.
During the Art of Wine, you may stroll through the Museum galleries and view works by many well-known regional and national artists. Formal tours of the galleries may also be arranged.
A live auction presided over by auctioneer David Rago, of Rago Arts and Auction Center in Lambertville, N.J., follows the dinner. The live auction features art, exclusive wine lots and unique experience packages.
