THe Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum presents Stripped: The Body Beautiful, an exhibition on view through 2nd January 2012.
Featuring sculptures, paintings and objects from the Museum’s collection, visitors are encouraged to debate whether beauty is only skin deep.
Wander through our indoor sculpture park to discover the Victorians’ attitude towards the naked body.
Highlights of the exhibition include a copy of the death mask of Napoleon and a bodice dating from the 1600s.
The exhibition includes four magnificent sculptures for sale by the artist Jon Edgar. Jon has very kindly offered to donate 25% from the sales of these works to the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum.
Two modern nudes by the portraitist Jonathan Yeo have also been specially loaned to the Museum from Metropolis Art Gallery.
The Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum is a Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) Accredited museum. The collections are interesting and unusual and include art and sculpture – many collected during the late 1800s and early 1900s.
