Ella Sharp Museum Presents Foote Prints. The Legacy of W.A. Foote and the Origins of Consumers Energy Company

The Ella Sharp Museum of Art and History presents the exhibition, Foote Prints: The Legacy of W.A. Foote and the Origins of Consumers Energy Company from October 29, 2011- January 14, 2012.

The exhibition will tell the story of William A. Foote and the rich heritage he left for the Jackson community as the founder of the Consumers Energy Company, his association with the Interurban Rail System, and his wife’s involvement the W. A. Foote Memorial Hospital. Visitors to the exhibit can follow his footsteps through a small-scale re-creation of a downtown Jackson street scene ca. 1905 as well as learn about his family through the display of Foote family heirlooms.

The mission of the Ella Sharp Museum of Art & History is to promote the understanding and appreciation of art and history through exceptional exhibitions, interpretation of historical buildings and engaging educational programs.

The Ella Sharp Museum of Art & History opened on October 3, 1965. Forty Six years later the Museum is still meeting the challenge of bringing the visual arts and the area’s history to visitors through exhibits, Museum and outreach programs, and newer venues such as the worldwide web
