The Hastings Museum will be abuzz with holiday activity as the 29th Annual Festival of Trees begins with a giant decorating party on Saturday, November 19. Over 50 groups including 4-H, scouts, crafting groups and other non-profit organizations decorate trees representing their groups. It’s a festive time as people decorate their trees, visit with old friends, help one another and sing a carol or two.
“With so many trees throughout the building, it adds a cheerful touch to the Museum,” said Becky Matticks, museum director. “Area businesses contribute wreaths to hang for all to see during the festival.”
During the decorating party, The Museum Store will hold an Open House from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Shoppers will receive 10% off everything in the store (some exclusions apply) as well as enjoy refreshments and register for door prizes. The store features educational toys, science kits, children’s books, Kool-Aid items and gifts for all ages. Gift certificates and gift memberships are also available.
