When it reopens, the museum will use 16 of its 21 galleries; the rest will be used for school programs.

Education programs are going on now! To find out more, please take a look at our school programs page, here, or the page for MiniMates, our early childhood education program, found here. To book a school group, or to reserve for MiniMates, call (212) 748-8786 or email [email protected].

The South Street Seaport Museum is located within the South Street Seaport District, at 12 Fulton Street between South Street and Front Street, in historic Schermerhorn Row.

South Street Seaport Museum was founded in 1967 by Peter and Norma Stanford. When originally opened as a museum, the focus of the Seaport Museum conservation was to be an educational historic site, with “shops” mostly operating as reproductions of working environments found during the Seaport’s heyday, 1820 to 1860.
