The 2012 biennial Auction features an extraordinary selection of vintage and contemporary work representing a long list of illustrious talent — from revered masters and prominent mid-career photographers to an exceptional group of young, emerging artists.

The photographers include: Walker Evans, Berenice Abbott, Olivo Barbieri, Edward Steichen, Charles “Teenie” Harris, Edward McHugh, Scott Conarroe, David Stephenson, Duane Michals, Carrie Schneider, Tim Davis, Martha Rial, Ed Panar, Paul Caponigro, Fran Forman, Henry Simonds, Akihiko Miyoshi, Rebecca Sittler, Dylan Vitone, Daniel Kramer, Aaron Siskind, Abelardo Morell, and Jonathan Lewis, to name but a few.

Before the live bidding begins, guests will partake in a delectable brunch from Chef Bob Sendall of All in Good Taste Productions. Complimenting this delightful menu are selected wines from local vintner (and well-known photographer) Duane Rieder of Engine House Twenty-Five and signature cocktails from Boyd & Blair Vodka. New this year is a silent auction with an array of items, from tickets to theatre and cultural events, to gift certificates for fine dining, Steelers sports memorabilia, travel packages and much, much more.

Honoring Aaronel deRoy Gruber

A special highlight of the 2012 Auction is a tribute to the life and legacy of Aaronel deRoy Gruber (1918-2011), a luminary in the field of photography and a generous patron of Silver Eye Center for Photography and the arts in Pittsburgh.

Two vintage works by Aaronel deRoy Gruber are in the Auction, and they can be previewed, along with other artwork and donated items at the Auction website, http://www.biddingforgood.com/SilverEye.
