The 1.8 acre Fair Park location was closed in November of 2011 to prepare the historic structures and rolling stock for movement. Construction on the new 12.5 acre facility in Frisco began on May 31, 2011, with completion of Phase I site preparation and track work expected by May, 2012. A graduated opening of the new location is anticipated to begin by year’s end. The Museum currently maintains interim offices, exhibits, and retail at the Frisco Heritage Museum located a few hundred yards north of the new, permanent site.

The Museum of the American Railroad exists to share the rich history and heritage, as well as current and future developments of the institution of the American Railroad through artistic, cultural, and educational programming.
