Author Brian Baum recounts 1977 Pan Am Flight
SEATTLE – Thirty-five years ago this month, Pan American World Airways organized Flight 50, the first passenger flight around the world over the North and South Poles.

The Boeing 747SP Clipper New Horizons made the journey from San Francisco to London, Cape Town, Auckland and back to San Francisco in 54 hours, 7 minutes, 12 seconds. Aviation author Brian Baum will recount what it was like to be a passenger aboard the record-setting flight during a presentation on Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. Baum will illustrate the program with his unique, personal photographs from the flight. The lecture is free with admission to the Museum.
The Museum of Flight is located at 9404 E. Marginal Way S., Seattle, Exit 158 off Interstate 5 on Boeing Field half-way between downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. The Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $17 for adults, $14 for seniors 65 and older, $13 for active military, $9 for youth 5 to 17, and free for children under 5.
