In an effort to gain community input on its long range planning, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM) in St. Michaels, MD is inviting the public to a Town Hall meeting on January 31 from 6 to 8pm in its Van Lennep Auditorium. Limited seating is available, with registration needed.
“The Museum is updating our strategic planning,” commented CBMM Chief Curator Pete Lesher. “Through this meeting, we will be looking for feedback from members of the community to articulate what they think the Museum’s role in the community should be.”
At the January 31 meeting, participants can expect CBMM to present general background information about its mission, vision, and values, while sharing some likely or possible directions for the institution’s future. Professional facilitator Maureen Michaels will then lead a discussion regarding participant impressions of how CBMM is doing, and ask questions about the validity of possible future directions for the museum.
“We will be asking questions of our participants and offering time for feedback,” continued Lesher. “CBMM reaches a number of different audiences, so we want to be sure to hear at least a few representative voices from the communities we serve.” In addition to the Town Hall meeting, CBMM will be conducting four focus groups to gain further strategic planning input from its constituents.
CBMM will then use this feedback, together with input from its board, staff, and volunteers, to help set priorities and a general direction in the development of the institution’s long range strategic plan.
