The Regional Military Museum in Houma is planing an expansion after the State Bond Commission approved issuing $350,000 in tax bonds.
The planned building would add 12,000 square feet to the museum, providing improved display space and room for group events.
The museum has more than 4,000 artifacts, ranging from President Dwight Eisenhower’s Air Force One plane to uniforms, photos, medals, vehicles and weapons. Many of the display items were acquired from local veterans.
The planned glass-and-steel structure would be built in two phases and cost about $3 million.
