Two de Havilland DHC-2 Beavers fly-in and static display
SEATTLE, – The Museum of Flight is offering an educational activity in conjunction with an African aerial adventure with Seattle pilots. The project begins May 11 with a 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. fly-in of two de Havilland Beaver airplanes, the same types of planes being used on the African cross-country “safari.”
A group of Museum volunteers and friends has shipped its historic de Havilland Beaver airplanes from Seattle to Cape Town, South Africa and will be flying between game preserves, recording their experiences, and connecting with Museum visitors. Their “Great Africa Air Safari” becomes an educational initiative that brings the real-time excitement of an airborne journey through Southern Africa to the Museum’s in-house flight simulation lab, the Aviation Learning Center. The Museum will become the virtual home for the safari and will feature a range of online activities and simulated flights linked to this amazing adventure in the Aviation Learning Center.
