Portland Art Museum presents Cyclepedia: Iconic Bicycle Design, an exhibition on view June 8 – September 8.
Drawn from the collection of Vienna-based designer and bike aficionado Michael Embacher, this special exhibition features 40 bicycles—racing, mountain, single-speed, touring, tandem, urban, folding, cargo, and curiosities—representing every decade from 1925 to the present, each chosen by Embacher as examples of pivotal moments in the evolution of bicycle design. Related programs will take place all summer long, including an opening lecture by Embacher himself (see below); fun bike tours; informative panel talks, a bike-themed circus event and outdoor film screening; and weekly bicycle displays showcasing Portland’s internationally recognized community of bicycle designers and builders. www.portlandartmuseum.org
