ArtCrush gets underway onWednesday, July 31, with the WineCrush dinner and wine pairing at the home of John and Amy Phelan (John is co-president of the AAM’s Board of Trustees, and both John and Amy are active on the AAM’s National Council).
Thursday is the preview of the works in the Sotheby’s auction. And Friday is the main event with the silent auction, followed by dinner and the live auction, conducted by Sotheby’s European Deputy Chairman Oliver Barker. In addition to ArtCrush, the details of the Museum’s summer exhibitions were just announced! On view during the gala are two new exhibitions of artist Lorna Simpson as part of the Jane and Marc Nathanson Distinguished Art in Resident Program, as well as Hayley Tompkins first solo show with a US institution. Construction on the new Shigeru Ban-designed Aspen Art Museum (opening in Summer 2014) is underway in downtown Aspen, so it’s an important moment to get an early look at what will eventually be the 30,000-square-foot new museum, tripling the size of the current building.
