National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Hosts The Butler: A Witness To History

National Underground Railroad Freedom Center presents The Butler: A Witness To History on Sunday, August 18, 3-5 p.m.

Don’t miss award-winning author and Pulitzer-Prize nominee Wil Haygood as he shares the real stories that inspired the new major motion picture, The Butler.

Haygood will share perspective on his new book, The Butler: A Witness to History, and will discuss his exploration into the real life story of Eugene Allen, an African American butler who saw history unfold while serving 8 US Presidents in the White House.

Haygood’s Washington Post column about Eugene Allen inspired The Butler, opening nationwide this August and starring six Academy Award winners including Oprah Winfrey, Forest Whitaker and Jane Fonda.

Following his presentation in the Harriet Tubman Theater, Haygood will take Q&A and then sign copies of his new book, available for sale in our bookstore. The event is free with general admission. Please join us and be among the first to get the book.

RSVP is recommended by calling 513-333-7706 or emailing [email protected].
