It is one of Ireland’s foremost centres for contemporary visual art and has its roots in the independent art scene in Dublin in the 1980s, as one of the earliest and most ambitious artists’ collectives.

Today, TBG+S works to support professional visual artists and to connect people with the engaging dynamic of art. It provides affordable studio space to over 40 artists annually and a vibrant programme of public exhibitions and events to engage loyal and new audiences. As one of Ireland’s foremost centres for production and exhibition of contemporary art, TBG+S has crystallised its strategic objectives around three core activities.

Mission
Create
The TBG+S building is home to 30 artists’ studios that provide artists with a warm and spacious working environment and enable artists to be located within a creative community in the city.

Exhibit
TBG+S delivers a diverse, critically engaging and distinctive programme of contemporary visual art that is ambitious locally and internationally and engages diverse audiences.

Engage
TBG+S provides opportunities for new visitors and loyal followers to participate in and engage with visual art through its public programme of talks and events inclusive of live performances, film screenings, gigs, gallery and studios tours, public talks and the TBG+S Education strand.

Role of Director
In 2013, TBG+S celebrated its 30th anniversary year, giving it definition under the theme of ‘Generation,’ meaning both a period of 30 years and the act of creating. Coming out of the 30th anniversary year, and with the future secured, TBG+S is seeking a new Director to provide artistic and strategic leadership, building on the organisation’s achievements to date and leading it into the next exciting phase of development.

The successful candidate will have a clear and focused vision that will enhance the importance of TBG+S locally and internationally, explore new directions and deliver on its mission for its multiple constituencies. It will be a unique opportunity to lead and motivate the dynamic and loyal TBG+S team staff across the three pillars of the organisation—Create, Exhibit and Engage—to develop partnerships in collaboration with stakeholders, and to ensure that TBG+S continues to be defined as one of Ireland’s most relevant and vibrant cultural organisations.

For further information and to apply for the Director’s position, please see the ‘News’ section of the TBG+S website.

The closing date for applications is noon on Tuesday, 4 February 2014.

Temple Bar Gallery + Studios is annually funded by the Arts Council of Ireland/An Chomhairle Ealaion.
