From February 22 to March 5, John Nagel – the Executive Director of the International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum – will be visiting China on an international trip supporting the arts globally, and furthering St. Louis’ Sister Cities bonds.
Here is a description of the trip from John:
“We have met with the World Trade Centers (Nowak and Sheehan) to discuss our plans for a Sister Cities photographic project. Tim Hermann of our board of directors lives in China and will meet me and escort me to the cities of Hangzhou/Shanghai, Nanjing, Beijing and Hong Kong. We will meet with officials in Nanjing to explore our Sister Cities relationship.
This is a fact-finding trip to learn of ways in which photographers in Nanjing and in St. Louis might collaborate in a joint project to explore the cultural elements of the opposite city. One form this project may take is a photo competition held in Nanjing and St. Louis. Two winning photographers from each city would be awarded a 7-10 day all expense paid trip to the opposite city. The resulting photographs would be presented in simultaneous exhibitions in both cities.”
