Island of Lemurs: Madagascar at the National Museum of Natural History

Island of Lemurs: Madagascar will launch in 3-D at the Samuel C. Johnson IMAX Theater at the National Museum of Natural History April 4. Tickets are on sale now at www.si.edu/imax

Island of LemursAcademy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby, Dolphin Tale) narrates the IMAX 3-D documentary Island of Lemurs: Madagascar, the story of nature’s greatest explorers—lemurs. The 39-minute film reunites Freeman with Drew Fellman, who also wrote and produced the 2011 IMAX 3-D documentary Born to Be Wild, and director David Douglas, who served as director of photography on that film.

Captured with IMAX 3-D cameras, Island of Lemurs: Madagascar takes audiences on a spectacular journey to the remote and wondrous world of Madagascar. Lemurs arrived in Madagascar as castaways millions of years ago and evolved into hundreds of diverse species, but they are now highly endangered. Audiences will be introduced to trailblazing scientist Patricia Wright on her lifelong mission to help these strange and adorable creatures survive in the modern world.

Island of Lemurs: Madagascar is a presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures and IMAX Entertainment. The IMAX 3-D release of Island of Lemurs: Madagascar will be digitally remastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX Digital Remastering technology. The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customized theater geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.
