Museum Hosts Reception for Artist Michael Birawer June 17

Official Seafair 65th anniversary painting on view with vintage Blue Angel jet

SEATTLE, June 9, 2014–On Tuesday, June 17 at 1 p.m. there will be a public reception for artist Michael Birawer at The Museum of Flight.

Birawer was commissioned by Seafair to paint the official artwork commemorating the Seattle event’s 65th anniversary in 2014. The painting is on view at the Museum until Aug. 4, and reflects Seafair’s Lake Washington boat races and airshow with the Navy Blue Angels flight team. The artwork is displayed next to the Museum’s vintage Douglas A-4 Skyhawk that flew as a Blue Angel in the 1980s. Birawer will be signing autographs and meeting museum visitors at the painting from 1-4 p.m.

The Museum of Flight is located at 9404 E. Marginal Way S., Seattle, Exit 158 off Interstate 5 on Boeing Field half-way between downtown Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport. The Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $19 for adults, $16 for seniors 65 and older, $16 for active military, $11 for youth 5 to 17, and free for children under 5.
