Cincinnati has been a home to veterans of military conflicts dating back to the founding of our nation when Revolutionary War veterans were given land grants in this area for their service. Others settled in the area after serving at Fort Washington. 150 years later, soldiers walked beneath a mosaic tile rendering of Fort Washington as they passed through the USO lounge at Union Terminal . One-fifth of every American soldier who served in World War II passed through the Rotunda at Union Terminal. In more recent years, Union Terminal has hosted memorials for veterans of Lima Company who served and lost their lives in Iraq in 2005. Union Terminal is proud to once again honor and entertain America’s servicemen and women during the Salute to Armed Forces Weekend.

The two-day celebration of our nation’s veterans and active duty military will include a flyover by the Tri-State Warbird Museum including a B-25 Mitchell bomber on Saturday, May 16 and a twice daily Walk of Honor at 11:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. complete with waving flags and live bands playing patriotic tunes. Guitars for Vets will perform in the Rotunda where several community organizations will also be gathered offering information and activities in support of our veterans. Special programming in the Cincinnati History Museum , Museum of Natural History & Science, Duke Energy Children’s Museum and the Treasures of Our Military Past exhibit will offer insight into contributions of veterans over two centuries and ways that we can continue to support veterans and those still serving today.

The following organizations will be offering information and programming the Rotunda during Salute to Armed Forces Weekend:
