Children’s Law Center, Inc. Presents Youth Lives Matter at Freedom Center

CINCINNATI, OH – Today, November 16, 2015, Children’s Law Center (CLC), a legal advocacy center serving Greater Cincinnati’s disadvantaged and vulnerable children, in partnership with the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, is hosting Youth Lives Matter: Solutions to Promote Equity and Justice, Improve Youth Outcomes and Build Safer Communities.

Youth Lives Matter will explore issues impacting our youth locally and present concrete solutions that can improve outcomes in the following key areas:
Reducing racial disparities
Promoting access to education
Improving police/youth interactions
Reducing youth arrest rates safely
Facilitating successful youth reentry
Featured Speakers will include:
Carter Stewart, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio
Lisa H. Thurau, Esq., Founder & ED of Strategies for Youth
James Bell, Founder & ED of the W. Haywood Burns Institute
Garien Gatewood, J.D., Youth Reentry Advocate of the Children’s Law Center, Inc.

Youth Lives Matter will also feature the debut of “I’m Coming Home,” a documentary that chronicles the lives of four Ohio youth, Drew, Lance, Allen and MJ, as they share their experiences in trying to reintegrate back to their neighborhoods and families after being removed by court order. This documentary highlights their struggles and calls for the community to work collectively to support their transition to adulthood and help them achieve success.
