SEATTLE – On Oct. 14, the Bellevue, Wash. Odle Middle School rocketry team will be honored at a noon luncheon at The Museum of Flight.
The team, Space Potatoes, made history this year when they became the first middle school rocketry team to win Team America Rocketry Challenge National Competition. Guests at the luncheon include John Thornquist, Washington state’s Director of the Office of Aerospace. Also attending are leaders in the National Association of Rocketry.
At 1:30 p.m. the team and their teacher Brendon Williams will lead an educator workshop on how to get high-quality rocketry programming to youth. Participants in the workshop will also be guests at an evening reception, lecture and book signing by astronaut Mike Massimino (the public event quickly sold out).
The event is part of the Museum’s Orbit Around October celebration of spaceflight leading to SpaceFest: Ladies Who Launch, Nov. 3-5 at the Museum.
