National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Open Mondays in May

School Tour Traffic Provides Additional Hours for Public Visits

CINCINNATI, OH – The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is open on Mondays throughout the month of May from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The museum’s regular hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The additional hours of operation are needed to accommodate the demand for school group visits. More than 10,000 students will visit the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in May.

“We have entered the most exciting time of the year for our education and interpretation departments,” says Richard Cooper, Director of Museum Experiences. “Our staff, docents and volunteers have prepared for the increased traffic and increased hours. When you have a team that believes in and embodies the mission of your institution it shows – and we do.”

The additional hours for school groups provide opportunities for the general public to visit the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center on Mondays and explore Mandela: The Journey to Ubuntu, The Rosa Parks Experience, and the Open Your Mind: Understanding Implicit Bias Learning Lab.
