National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Announces Updated Operating Hours

CINCINNATI, OH. (January 30, 2019) – The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center announced the museum will be open seven days a week year round beginning January, 28. The operating hours will remain Sunday – Monday: Noon – 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday – Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

“As we approach one of our busiest seasons, we want to ensure that all of our guests have the opportunity to visit the museum at their convenience”, says National Underground Railroad Freedom Center President and COO, Dion Brown. “Access to our facility is key to our mission and continuing growth as we work tirelessly to keep our doors open to everyone throughout the year.”

The updated operating hours provide guests the opportunity to experience special programming such as the Freedom 55 program series, which includes screenings, book signings, lectures and musical performances commemorating the 55th anniversary of Freedom Summer throughout 2019. Freedom Summer was a 1964 voter registration drive, also known as the Mississippi Summer project. The goal was to end the prevailing discriminatory and segregated voting system through increased voter registration of African Americans.

Guests can also see permanent and highlighted museum features including Mandela: The Journey to Ubuntu (closing March 1), Rosa Parks Experience – via a virtual reality headset – and explore the Open Your Mind: Understanding Implicit Bias Learning Lab.
