SEATTLE – Creative Executive Kevin Rafferty dreams up new ideas for Disney attractions and leads them from concept to completion; or as he says, “from the spark to the park.” On July 31 at the Museum, Rafferty will give a colorful behind-the-scenes look at his Disney projects including Cars Land at Disney’s California Adventure and the latest attraction, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World, Fla. The 2 p.m. presentation is free with Museum admission, as well as the Museum’s new exhibition The Walt Disney Studios and World War II.
Rafferty joined Walt Disney Imagineering in 1978 to contribute to the development of Epcot. He has since spent over 40 years developing shows and attractions for Disney Parks around the world. As an author, Kevin wrote the text for the popular book, Walt Disney Imagineering, A Behind the Dreams Look at Making the Magic Real. His latest book, Magic Journey: My Fantastical Walt Disney Imagineering Career is a personal memoir that chronicles his remarkable four decades as an Imagineer.
