Christ Church Picture Gallery Oxford Seeks Curatorial Assistant

Christ Church is unique amongst the Oxford and Cambridge colleges in having a designated art gallery which houses an important collection of mainly Italian Old Master paintings and drawings. To provide administrative and curatorial support we are looking for a Curatorial Assistant (3 years fixed-term contract) Salary: c. £21,000.

Christ Church, Oxford.

This is a challenging role assisting the Curator of the Picture Gallery with the day-to-day running of the gallery as well as with the implementation of new initiatives. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, good visual memory, above average IT-skills, knowledge of museum databases, reproduction and copyright issues relating to museum collections, as well as a wide knowledge of European art history. S/he should be educated to degree level and will have experience of working in a museum environment. An interest in and enthusiasm for the gallery’s collection is essential, as is the flexibility to deal with a wide range of tasks. Knowledge of European history and familiarity with French and/or Italian is desirable.
