Local businesses donate items to support Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal’s Diana, A Celebration sold out premiere event Feb. 12
CINCINNATI – Local businesses have been inspired to generously donate several items for a silent auction as part of the sold out Diana, A Celebration premiere event on Wednesday, February 12. And though the premiere event is sold out, you can still bid on auction items online. Proceeds from the auction will help support Cincinnati Museum Center in its mission to educate, captivate and inspire people of all ages.
“There are so many incredible items that fit the grace and beauty Diana embodied,” says Dianne Dunkelman, premiere gala chair. “It’s just such a thrill to showcase the craftsmanship and products of these local businesses that have so generously donated these items in support of Cincinnati Museum Center.”
No princess is complete without her jewelry. Royal Jewelers of the Queen City Lee and Heather Krombholz of Krombholz Jewelers have donated Diana-inspired jewelry, including diamond and sapphire earrings and ring. Over 70 years, three generations of Krombholz have specialized in designing jewelry for its customers one at a time, and these earrings are no different. Two sapphires totaling 6.05ct are surrounded by 28 diamonds set in platinum. The 4.33ct sapphire solitaire ring surrounded by 14 diamonds set in platinum was the first auction item to be purchased outright. The earrings are sure to follow.
“On behalf of Cincinnati Museum Center and the hundreds of thousands who benefit from the incredible educational and inspirational opportunities it provides, we want to specially thank Lee and Heather Krombholz of Krombholz Jewelers for stepping out and generously donating the spectacular jewels,” says Dunkelman. “Lee’s exquisite interpretation of both the ring and earrings of which he created for the auction will be enjoyed by not only the winning bidders but by their families for generations to come.”
The ATP Tennis Tournament Gift Package donated by the Western & Southern Open gives you the royal treatment at the biggest summer party in the Midwest. Enjoy two seats for a session in the all-inclusive tournament suite, premium parking and one authentic 5×7 player card signed by Wimbledon Champ, Olympic Gold Medalist and Briton Andy Murray.
Some items even have direct ties to Diana’s family. Two English Rose Tea sets used during the Afternoon Tea event attended by Princess Diana’s brother the 9th Earl, Charles Spencer, were donated by Kathleen Kern of Churchill’s Fine Teas. “Diana has always inspired me so I wanted to donate the tea sets from the tea I hosted for Earl Spencer where he spoke of continuing the charity works of Diana,” says Kern. “As she was England’s Rose, I chose this particular service that afternoon because the pattern reminded me of a rose.”
There are also items to make you look and feel like a princess. The Look and Feel Like a Princess package donated by SIA Spa utilizes natural ingredients to promote a youthful appearance. Enjoy nine facials and six neck treatments to leave your skin refreshed and rejuvenated and enjoy a 60 minute service that will de-stress your body and gently massage your face and forehead.
Once you feel like a princess, the Royal Makeover & Wardrobe package will make you look like one as well. Let Ivy Pitzer, owner of Ivy Inc., give you a wardrobe consultation and personal shopping trip before Lesley Hern, owner of The Wardrobe, provides personal assistance as you spend your $350 gift certificate to The Wardrobe. A cut and color donated by Sam Hills of the High Five Salon will complete your princess transformation.
And in honor of England’s Rose, the Petals and Pastries package will ensure you have fresh flowers and sweet treats for an entire year, featuring flowers by Del Apgar Florists. Whether it’s roses and scones or daisies and cupcakes, the Petals and Pastries package is like having a royal gardener and baker at your service.
Online bidding for the Diana, A Celebration premiere event silent auction will continue until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11. On site bidding will resume at the premiere event beginning at 6 p.m. For those who don’t want to risk losing their favorite item, there is a “buy now” option. Those items purchased through the “buy now” option will be removed from the auction at the event.
