National Underground Railroad Freedom Centre Museum Awarded Citation of Excellence for Marketing

Cincinnati, OH – The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center received recognition for achievement in marketing and advertising at the Ohio Travel Association’s RUBY Awards presentation held Wednesday, September 26, at the 2018 Ohio Conference on Travel in Sandusky, Ohio.

The Ohio Travel Association’s RUBY Awards recognize excellence in Ohio’s travel industry for efforts in advertising, marketing, and public relations. The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center received a Citation of Excellence in the Television Advertisement category featuring The Kinsey African American Art & History Collection. The museum was also a finalist in the Brochure category. On-site to accept the award was Jamie Glavic, Assistant Vice President, Marketing and Communications.

“To achieve recognition in the RUBY Awards is a real accomplishment and speaks volumes about the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center’s quality of work, as there were 203 entries in this year’s competition,” says Melinda Huntley, Ohio Travel Association Executive Director. “Marketers in the travel industry are among the best in the profession, and this award ceremony celebrates the best of the best.”

Glavic, who serves on the Ohio Travel Association Board of Directors, also graduated from the Ohio Tourism Leadership Academy at the annual conference. The 2018 cohort is the tenth class to graduate from the program. The Ohio Travel Association is the non-profit association representing attractions, destination marketing organizations, hotels, museums, suppliers, restaurants, campgrounds, and other businesses who make up Ohio’s $43 billion travel industry.

“Jamie is incredibly driven,” says Jacqueline K. Dace, Deputy Director of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. “Her enthusiasm for museums and her ability to connect the dots between marketing, communications, and tourism messaging are evident in the work she produces day in and day out. She’s a champion for the institution and we congratulate her on her efforts and graduation.”
