The Freeport Art Museum presents Sonata Coda: A Story of Keyboard Instruments on view April 2-30, 2011.
For a limited time of only four weeks, a selection of 75 keyboard instruments are on display from Steve Misener’s personal collection. Misener joins the museum for the month of April as an artist in residence. He will be conducting interactive daily tours of the exhibition where he will play selected pianos and organs and will talk about the history of keyboard instruments; the similarities and differences of sounds they each make as well as the variety of forms, from the elaborately carved and lavisly decorated to the more streamlined and restrained in appearance.
It is the vision of the Freeport Art Museum to contribute to the vibrancy and revitalization of our community by becoming the region’s foremost source of understanding the history, nature and significance of the world’s artistic heritage.
