Museum of Flight Offers Free Climate Day Activities on April 5

“Free First Thursday” events focus on NASA Climate Day

SEATTLE, During the April 5 “Free First Thursday” from 5 to 9 p.m., the Museum will celebrate NASA Climate Day with activities and presentations exploring the science of climate change and what we can do about it. The event’s featured guest is NASA scientist Michelle Gierach. From 6 to 7 p.m., Gierach will take audience questions via a live video link to the Museum’s theater from the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California. Gierach is an expert on the climate’s relationship between the oceans and the atmosphere. NASA Solar System Ambassadors Dr. Ron Hobbs and Merle Hanley will be at the Museum to conduct presentations showing how NASA missions collect data on Earth’s climate.

Other activities show how satellites have helped scientists study climate change, and what that data means to Earth and us. Visitors can measure their carbon footprint, learn about the difference between climate and weather, and what “fossil fuel” means. The Museum and Climate Day activities are free, April 5 from 5 to 9 p.m.
