Exploratorium Museum presents Full Spectrum Science. Lasers – The Light Fantastic

Exploratorium Museum at miSci presents Full Spectrum Science. Lasers – The Light Fantastic on 1 – 2 pm Saturday, October 20, 2012.

Used to cut metal, perform delicate surgeries, scan your groceries and play DVDs, lasers are no longer just the stuff of science fiction. Join Exploratorium scientist Ron Hipschman for Full Spectrum Science: Lasers –The Light Fantastic. In 1960, the laser was known as “a solution looking for a problem.” Now, we can hardly imagine life without them. You’ll learn amazing facts about the phenomena of monochromatic wavelengths, how lasers are made and how they work. Hipschman’s Full Spectrum Science is a monthly, dynamic exploration into the different aspects of physics, including sound, color, heat and temperature. Taking place in the Exploratorium’s McBean Theater on the third Saturday of the month, visitors to Full Spectrum Science experience an hour-long multi-media exploration of a different subject at each program. These presentations include hands-on activities, film screenings and demonstrations. Full Spectrum Science is included with museum admission, but space is limited, so arrive early to be assured a seat. This program is appropriate for ages six years and older. – www.exploratorium.edu
