Cincinnati Museum Center hosts 2015 Mini Maker Faire

CINCINNATI – Calling all inventors, tinkerers and DIY enthusiasts! Cincinnati Mini Maker Faire is back and once again will be under the iconic dome of Union Terminal. The event will take place at Cincinnati Museum Center on August 29 & 30 but we need you and your inventions, gadgets, creations and skills to make this year’s Mini Maker Faire better than ever. Cincinnati Mini Maker Faire is now accepting applications for all interested makers.

2015 Mini Maker FaireCincinnati Mini Maker Faire is a Cincinnati Museum Center event that is part of the global Maker Faire network created by MAKE Magazine . According to MAKE, “Maker Faire is the greatest show (and tell) on Earth – a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement.” Makers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to participate and Cincinnati Mini Maker Faire will be accepting applications through June 12. Interested makers should visit www.cincinnatimakerfaire.com to apply.

“Cincinnati Museum Center is committed to inspiring people’s creativity and creating lifelong learners who continue to push themselves to create or achieve something they never knew was possible,” says Elizabeth Pierce, president and CEO of Cincinnati Museum Center. “Mini Maker Faire puts this region’s creativity on display and we’re looking forward to see those people who were here as spectators last year come back as makers this year.”

Cincinnati Mini Maker Faire will bring together amateur and professional inventors, artists, crafters, chemists, engineers and performers. There will be large spectacles as well as communal interactive experiences. Some of last year’s exhibits included a power tool drag race competition that pitted modified power tools against each other; the GoSun stove, an invention that cooks at temperatures up to 600 degrees using only sunlight; and a variety of 3D printers demonstrating the newest technology at work.

Exhibits and activities will be scattered through the Museum of Natural History & Science, Cincinnati History Museum and Duke Energy Children’s Museum as well as in the parking lots and lawn in front of Union Terminal. A Mini Maker Market will take over the Rotunda, offering a collection of unique, handmade crafts.

With the ingenuity, skill and imagination of new inventors, there’s no telling what explosive and awe-inspiring exhibits will be on display at this year’s Mini Maker Faire at Cincinnati Museum Center. Cincinnati Mini Maker Faire will be accepting applications from interested makers through June 12. To apply, visit www.cincinnatimakerfaire.com.
