Active adults who enjoy meeting friends and sharing their love of the Chesapeake Bay are invited to a Volunteer Friend-raiser at the waterfront Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, Md. on Tuesday, February 16. The event is free, with limited seating and advanced registration needed.
Beginning at 3:30 p.m. in CBMM’s Van Lennep Auditorium, the Friend-raiser open house will include complimentary refreshments and the opportunity for prospective volunteers to learn more about docent volunteering opportunities, with emphasis on interpretive programs, public and school group tours, and training. Current docent volunteers and staff will be on hand to answer any questions during the event.
“We want to grow our public programs—in particular with our outreach to youth,” said Director of Education Kate Livie. “We’re looking for active adults to join our corps and make a difference in our interpretive tours that explore the Bay in meaningful ways. No experience is necessary, but an enthusiasm for the Chesapeake and the gift of gab are essential.”
To learn more about our interpretive programs, join us on February 16th at our Volunteer Friend-raiser. There will be plenty of information on CBMM tours and training, as well as a great chance to mix and mingle with current volunteers and docents.
This social event is free, with registration required by January 30 by contacting Allison Speight at 410-745-4941 or [email protected].
