Trains, LEGO and Santa highlight 12,000 square feet of holiday experience at Cincinnati Museum Center

Most of us may be living in shorts and flip flops, doing our best to stay cool during the summer but it’s never too early to start the countdown to the holidays. This year you’ll want to mark your calendars for November 10 when Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC) opens Holiday Junction featuring Brickopolis.

This holiday season, wonder, joy and merriment will cover 12,000 square feet of CMC’s special exhibition gallery. Fan favorites like Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends, the Super-O interactive layout and garden railway trains will return this year. In addition to a variety of train layouts of different sizes and themes, the riding train will be back, letting riders chug along through a winter wonderland.

Along with favorites from holidays past, Holiday Junction featuring Brickopolis will include a blizzard of bricks crafted into custom LEGO creations courtesy of the Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana LEGO Users Group (OKILUG). From floor to ceiling, 1,800 square feet of LEGO landscapes will feature motorized trains, whimsical scenes with local flavor and a merry amount of surprises tucked into every pip of their environment.

And, of course, Santa will arrive Friday, November 24, ready to listen to the wish lists of kids big and small.

“I’ve been all around the world hundreds of times but there’s no place I look forward to visiting more than Cincinnati and Cincinnati Museum Center,” said Santa Claus, chief cheer officer for Cincinnati Museum Center. “I can’t help but feel jolly when I see families come back year after year to share this experience together. Ho ho hope to see you there!”
