National Parks Adventure returns to the Cincinnati Museum Center’s OMNIMAX® Theater

CINCINNATI – A fan favorite is returning to Cincinnati Museum Center’s Robert D. Lindner Family OMNIMAX® Theater. The grandeur and beauty of America’s diverse landscape stretches across the screen in National Parks Adventure. CMC is bringing the film back for a limited run beginning Friday, September 2.

MacGillivray Freeman’s National Parks Adventure showcases the untamed beauty of the national parks, where some of America’s most incredibly diverse landscapes remain much as they were millions of years ago. Experience a range of environments from the towering trees of Redwood National Park to the murky swamps of the Everglades to the crystal-clear lakes of Glacier National Park. Among the film’s stars are icons including Half Dome, Delicate Arch, Devil’s Tower and Old Faithful – monuments to the nation’s vast wilderness.

Narrated by Academy Award® winner Robert Redford, National Parks Adventure is a stunning visual and musical journey through the natural landscapes that showcase America’s wild beauty on the only screen big enough to truly capture the great outdoors.

“The initial audience response to National Parks Adventure proved this is the ultimate film for our theater and we’re excited to bring that experience back for this limited run,” said Dave Duszynski, vice president of featured experiences at Cincinnati Museum Center. “The beauty of the film lies in the unexpected emotional response that happens through the blend of spectacular images and a soundtrack you’ll be singing all day. And if you find yourself wanting more, stay put for a screening of the equally majestic film from the same studio, Into America’s Wild.”

Hike, bike, raft and climb along with artist and adventurer Rachel Pohl (who kicked off the film in 2016 by rappelling down the face of Union Terminal), world famous mountain climber Conrad Anker and adventure photographer Max Lowe on a thrilling journey to several of America’s 423 national parks. Witness the rugged beauty of America’s wild spaces through a new generation of explorers, and from vantage points few would dare experience for themselves.

Released in 2016 in celebration of the National Park Service’s 100th anniversary, the film introduces audiences to naturalist and poet John Muir and President Teddy Roosevelt, driving forces behind the protection of the country’s landscape. Together, they realize the true heritage of the United States is the land itself.

National Parks Adventure was CMC’s most popular film in recent history and both the final OMNIMAX® film to open at CMC prior to the historic restoration of Union Terminal in 2016 and the final film to be screened on film before the theater transitioned to digital projection. The film has since been remastered for digital.

With National Parks Adventure opening on September 2, the final day to see CMC’s current OMNIMAX® film Ancient Caves will be Thursday, September 1. MacGillivray Freeman’s Into America’s Wild, narrated by Academy Award® winner Morgan Freeman, will continue on screen through the fall.

National Parks Adventure was funded in part by Cincinnati Museum Center as a member of the Giant Dome Theater Consortium.
