Learn about Angels and Demons in the Dead Sea Scrolls at 7 p.m. Oct. 15
CINCINNATI – Cincinnati Museum Center’s newest blockbuster exhibition, Dead Sea Scrolls: Life and Faith in Ancient Times, opens on Nov. 16, but you don’t have to wait that long to experience the one-of-a-kind history surrounding the scrolls.
Join us in Museum Center’s Reakirt Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 15 for a free Insights Lecture in conjunction with the University of Cincinnati Judaic Studies Department Lichter Lecture Series entitled “Are The Dead Sea Scrolls Dead?” This lecture, by Dr. Carol A. Newsom of Emory University, investigates how the Dead Sea Scrolls describe angels and demons. Through this lecture, we will gain a better understanding of how the Dead Sea community viewed themselves and their opponents. The lecture is free and open to the public, but space is limited.
Dead Sea Scrolls: Life and Faith in Ancient Times opens on Nov. 16 at Cincinnati Museum Center and features the most comprehensive collection of ancient artifacts from Israel ever organized, including one of the largest collections of the priceless 2,000-year-old Dead Sea Scrolls displayed in North America. Local community partners include Presenting Sponsor: The Jewish Foundation of Cincinnati, and Associate Sponsors: the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, the Diocese of Southern Ohio, SC Ministry Foundation, Office of the Provost, University of Cincinnati, and Xavier University, among others. Hebrew Union College is also a key partner of the exhibit whose significant involvement in the history of Dead Sea Scrolls will be highlighted.
